GLY’s Business Development Manager provides leadership in relationship management and developing a desirable and diverse mix of work opportunities in alignment with GLY’s Strategic Plan. Provides leadership in departmental efforts to establish annual Business Planning initiatives and leverages tools, processes, and culture to motivate those assigned to business development goals to track and achieve them. - Proactively seek and assimilate market, economic and business cycle research. Provide regular reporting of conditions and trends to Market Sector leadership.
- Actively participate in annual Business Planning and longer-term Strategic Planning and provide leadership to the timely completion of all department initiatives and action items.
- Manage engagement and participation for corporate involvement in local, regional, and national organizations which serve to foster business relationships, inform market knowledge, and support community partnerships.
- Support the development of the annual marketing budget, including marketing expenses, industry organization fees, and community charitable donations.
- Possess an established network within the greater Puget Sound region amongst Owners, Design Consultants, Brokers, and Owners Representatives.
- Maintain active involvement in key organizations which serve to foster business relationships, inform market knowledge, and support community partnerships.
- Provide analytics and consistent reporting to Market Sector leadership on goals, accomplishments, and action items on an on-going basis in bi-weekly business development leadership meetings.
- Ensure prospective projects are kept current in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, including sector, revenue, probability, and timing to ensure forecasts are accurate.
- Identify and help align resources toward business development activities necessary for targeted market sectors, clients, and/or specific project acquisitions.
- Support and provide leadership in identifying qualified opportunities through the development of strategic relationships with architects, brokers, owners, and owner’s representatives.
- Gain understanding of Market Sector strategic priorities and align to help in creating a framework for them to execute on these priorities in the near and long term.
- Participate in specific project acquisition planning and the development of a winning strategy. In some cases when appropriate, help guide proposal and interview efforts.
what it takes:
- 10 or more years of business development/client relationship-oriented experience, or at least 15 years of directly related construction Project Management experience, including acquiring, planning, and successfully executing a diverse mix of negotiated work with repeat clients.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain business relationships.
- Outstanding presentation and relationship building skills.
- Business or Construction Management degree, or equivalent.

The full salary range for this position is $145,000 to $180,000 annually and represents a range of experience starting at 10 - 15 years.
