What are the responsibilities and job description for the PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST - PT - APPLING COUNTY - DRUG COURT position at Glynn County Government?
This position would be a part-time position located primarily in Appling County. This position would report directly to the Lead Case Manager and would work with all clinical and non-clinical staff to provide mentoring, peer support, linkage, and care coordination as needed.
Essential Functions:
Provides leadership in development and implementation of early intervention support such as anger management, parenting and budgeting.
Assist clients to achieve wellness, stability, and autonomy through access to resources such as housing, employment, and other support services.
Facilitate multiple care aspects (case coordination, information sharing, etc).
Assist clients with obtaining a GED as needed or other skilled training for employment stability.
Develop effective working relations and cooperate with clinical team throughout the entire case management process.
Assist with initial intake processes to determine client needs and prioritize through development of effective service plans.
Take the extra mile and interact with clients to keep track of their progress and to ensure satisfaction by maintaining regular contact.
Record case information, complete accurately all necessary forms and produce statistical reports.

Graduate of a recognized Peer Mentor training program such as a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) with the Georgia CPS Project or Georgia CARES Project, High school diploma or GED, some related work experience is preferred, must be a self-identified recipient of substance abuse services with a history of involvement in the criminal justice system. As a peer in the recovery, there must be at least two years of consistent recovery. Valid Georgia driver’s license and a reliable form of transportation.
