Description
We are currently seeking a Prep Cook in Austin, Texas to support our amazing client’s culinary operations. It just so
happens to be the largest social media company in the world.
This position is located in downtown Austin and works a set schedule, Monday - Friday 4:00pm - 12:30am.
The Prep Cook will prep a large variety and quantity of products from around the globe with daily, changing
menus. Ideal candidate will have basic knife and food handling skills and will have the opportunity to develop and
grow within the company.
Essential Job Functions
- Reviews prep list as a team and discusses timing and procedures for the day
- Sets up station every day
- Preps various products in high volumes while keeping a fast pace
- Completes the appropriate logs assigned
- Follow specifications provided from the prep list
- Follows safety and sanitation procedures in accordance to all guidelines from OSHA, Department of Public Health and the HACCP Coordinator
- Accountable for compliance with all local, state, federal laws and regulations including those relating to food safety
- Adheres to and maintains the highest safety and sanitation standards
- Cleans as you go and clean at the end of the day
- Heavy and repetitive hand and arm motion, standing, walking, bending/twisting and balance
- Stands for a minimum of 8 hours a day
- Detect workplace hazards, navigate work areas, follow written directions, and safely operate equipment
- Lift, push and/or move up to 50lbs
- Safely work around hot surfaces, sharp objects and potentially wet and/or slippery floors
- Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility and an essential function of each employee at GM Culinary
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Monitors product freshness and rotation using FIFO
- Assists in maintaining an organized walk-in cooler
Minimum Qualifications
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Demonstrate basic knife skills including proper knife cuts and safe knife handling
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Sense of urgency
- Communication skills
- Experience working in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrate and follow standardized recipes, scale them appropriately and weigh and measure foods utilizing both standard and metric units of measurement
- Obtain and maintain a Food Handlers Certification for the duration of employment
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a Prep Cook role preferred
