Job Overview
We are seeking an Asset Management and Accounting Associate to maintain the books for our properties, oversee financial and operational processes, and collaborate with internal teams and third-party professionals. This role requires experience in accounting, financial reporting, and cash flow management, along with the ability to collaborate with property management and external financial professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management:
- Maintain books for all in-house managed properties, ensuring accuracy in general ledgers, journal entries, and accruals.
- Oversee accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and monthly closing processes for the portfolio.
- Manage cash flow tracking, fund transfers, and investor contributions/distributions.
- Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Ensure compliance with loan covenants, lease agreements, and lender reporting requirements.
- Monitor debt and equity draws, working with lenders and investors as needed.
- Assist in preparing investor K-1s in collaboration with third-party tax professionals.
Asset Management & Operations:
- Analyze rent rolls, occupancy trends, lease expirations, and financial performance metrics.
- Track property-level expenses, ensuring budget adherence and cost control.
- Work with property management teams to optimize operations and financial efficiency.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across the real estate and sports club portfolio.
- Collaborate with third-party service providers, including tax professionals, auditors, and lenders.
- Support investor relations by providing financial insights and reports on investment performance.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure proper tax documentation and compliance, working with accountants to facilitate tax filings.
- Prepare supporting documents for audits and year-end financial reporting.
- Assist in asset valuations, investor distributions, and profit allocation calculations.
- Maintain internal controls and best practices to enhance efficiency in fund accounting and investor reporting.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2 years of experience in accounting, asset management, or financial analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting, real estate finance, and relevant accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software
- Experience preparing or assisting with investor reporting and financial compliance.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in solving financial and operational challenges.
- Ability to collaborate with property managers, investors, lenders, and tax professionals.
