PROJECT SUMMARY:
This groundbreaking project, GGI Clean Indoor Air & GHG Reduction Initiative, is funded by the (EPA) for five years to focus on increasing Indoor Air quality (IAQ) in schools, a critical factor in creating a healthy and productive learning environment through two programs: capacity building with a cohort of districts as well as training and education
GGI, in partnership with the National School Boards Association (NSBA), will support low-income and Tribal K-12 school districts in implementing sustainable Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction plans. This project leverages the critical role of senior district leaders in allocating necessary staff time and funding by providing technical assistance, including policy and program advising, grant writing resources, community engagement, project management, strategy planning, data collection and analysis, training, and tailored implementation guidance to drive meaningful, long-lasting improvements in school district sustainability practices.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Manager, Capacity Building will collaborate with the National School Boards Association (NSBA) and other stakeholders to facilitate policy development, ensure effective implementation of IAQ management and GHG reduction plans, and promote the program through national networks. This role will provide comprehensive project management support to an annually selected cohort of “Target Districts” across the country.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
District / Cohort Engagement & Support
- Provide direct, individualized support to district staff and board members in 10 districts annually, including developing School Board policies, conducting and supporting baseline assessments and audits, and developing district-wide IAQ management and reduction plans and strategies.
- Support district stakeholders to implement strategies as well as measure, quantify, and report on IAQ and GHG progress annually.
- Provide in-person and remote training to district teams on IAQ management, energy efficiency, and EPA tools such as Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM).
- Support districts in conducting meaningful community engagement, modeling best practices for stakeholder involvement and communication.
- Encouraging school districts to develop IAQ management plans and GHG reduction strategies to qualify for recognition at the NSBA Magna Awards.
- Maintain regular communication with district stakeholders, providing updates, resources, and support to drive program success.
- Act as the primary point of contact between districts and EPA for technical assistance and program updates; Serve as a trusted liaison between district leadership, school board members, and EPA representatives to ensure seamless program execution.
Leadership and Program Management
- Manage Cohort Program Coordinator, providing direct support to this individual and overseeing data collection and reporting for district initiatives.
- Lead program reporting for the grant on capacity building efforts through the collection and presentation of district evaluations on IAQ management and GHG reduction to meet grant reporting requirements and demonstrate program success.
- Assist in planning training sessions, ensuring content aligns with audience needs and program objectives.
- Collaborate with Program Manager,Training & Education and Instructional Designer to support stakeholder learning and implementation.
Represent GGI at conferences, including NSBA convenings, and facilitate sessions to engage and inform school boards about program benefits and progress.

Pay: $104,000.00 per year
