McPherson College seeks dynamic and innovative candidates for the position of Financial Aid Counselor. This is a full time, hourly, 12-month position eligible for the college’s employee full benefits plan.

The Financial Aid Counselor reports to the Director of Financial Aid and provides oversight to financial aid support staff and student workers. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely creation and management of student records and support the college’s student recruitment efforts. This position provides financial administrative support to the Financial Aid office by performing office and clerical duties such as processing grants, loans and work study programs, composing correspondence, maintaining the financial aid filing system and entering detailed data into several financial aid databases. This position is expected to implement the institution’s financial aid strategy through packaging institutional, state, and federal funds while maintaining federal compliance, guidance, and best practices.
Minimal qualifications include proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Outlook email. In addition, the successful candidate will be courteous and professional with their customer service skills and will have exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Additionally the ability to navigate institutional technology is expected.
This positon requires a Bachelor’s degree.
One year’s experience in a financial office or department is required.
Proficiency in word-processing data entry such as 10-key and typing required such as Excel
Spreadsheets and other Microsoft Office software and any other Financial Aid software such
as Jenzabar and Slate.
Alternative work schedule may include an occasional evenings or weekends.
