The Head Tennis Coach is responsible for a focus on student/athlete instruction in athletic performance, physical health, and sport team concepts specific to tennis. The coach is responsible for developing and guiding the tennis program by mentoring, teaching and providing the guidance and support necessary for the student athletes to be successful in their athletic and academic endeavors. The coach will represent McPherson College, its mission, and the Athletic department's program and goals in a positive manner.
Duties include but are not limited to the recruitment and retention of student-athletes; scouting; scheduling; team travel; community service; academic monitoring with integrity; enforcement of team policies and procedures; off-season conditioning; leading training sessions and knowledge of and adherence to college, conference and NAIA rules and regulations.
Experience: Previous coaching experience required. Heading coaching experience preferred in a college setting.
Education: A baccalaureate degree. Master’s degree preferred.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills are necessary.
Other Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required and working with budgets.
Travel is a requirement of this position and a valid driver’s license is required. Working nights and weekends particularly during tennis season is also an expectation of this position.
