Organization Overview: The Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) is a non-profit, multi-service organization focusing primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers.
Position Summary: The Culinary Operations Manager will lead the Soup’s Up production team. Soup’s Up is a project that provides fresh, seasonally influenced soups and fresh produce kits to older adults with chronic health issues. The Culinary Operations Manager is responsible for producing and distributing the Soup’s Up packages and for supervising four production cooks while following standard operating procedures and providing insight to ensure sustained project success.
Schedule: 35-40 hours per week
Salary Range: $65,000 to $70,000
Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.

Primary Duties
- Oversee and supervise a team of Isaacs Center Advance and Earn graduates in the planning, preparing, execution, and delivery of meal and produce kits for delivery to vulnerable community members
- Ensure meal recipients’ feedback is collected and create action plans when needed
- Create a weekly menu and lead a team of production cooks its execution
- Provide strengths-based performance feedback that is designed to equip Advance and Earn graduates with the technical, leadership, and interpersonal skills required for professional success and growth in the hospitality or adjacent fields
- Follow standard operating procedures for the unpacking, labeling, storing, and rotation of food and disposables
- Lead team in inventory management and proper maintenance of equipment and food storage areas
- Responsible for team adherence to safe food handling best practices, as it pertains to food preparation, storage, and distribution
- Coordinate and facilitate on-going coaching and training of interns interested in careers in the culinary arts
- Report appliance/equipment failure
- Perform other duties as required
- Utilize the provided personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves at all times; use provided hand sanitizer as needed
- Wash hands before the start of the work shift, throughout your shift as needed, and at the end of the work shift
- Follow established cleaning, sanitizing, and safety procedures
- Report immediately; personal flu-like symptoms and/or symptoms related to Covid-19
- Report immediately; personal exposure to others who have exhibited flu-like symptoms and/or symptoms related to Covid-19
- Possession of a valid Food Handlers License, as issued by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
- Experience following and creating recipes
- Experience following standard operating procedures
- Experience in cooking to satisfy specific nutrition guidelines
- Understanding of common food allergens and experience cooking for clients with food allergies
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- CPR certified and AED/first Aid Certified or be willing to attend both trainings
- Ability to stoop, bend, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and stand long hours as needed
- Ability to multi -task and work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience or interest in serving older adults in a community setting
- Bilingual, English/Spanish or English/Chinese highly preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours (e.g., evenings and weekends)
- Able to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, and potentially other holidays
- 2-3 years of kitchen management or supervisory experience preferred
