Job Title: Field Safety Representative

Position Overview: Assist Project Superintendents in managing Axiom 's safety and health programs. Conduct or assist with new hire orientations. Provide safety support and technical assistance to project teams. Serve as a role model for both Axiom and subcontractor personnel. Support project teams in identifying and providing solutions for construction hazards. Ensure safety on the project by promoting Axiom 's safety culture.
Responsibilities:
· Implement project-specific Safety Plans.
· Conduct safety observation reports and support Superintendents' safety leadership.
· Assist in injury/incident investigations and incident reporting.
· Support the implementation of emergency action plans.
· Provide toolbox talks and attend JSA meetings.
· Spend as much time as possible in the field observing and being accessible to workers for safety questions.
· Inspect and enforce safety rules, eliminate unsafe acts, document and follow up on safety concerns.
OSHA Compliance:
· Read, interpret, and apply OSHA regulations to Axiom 's scope of work.
· Conduct orientations for new hires.
· Assist field supervision in implementing job-specific safety plans.
· Maintain required records such as Haz-Com manuals, training, and emergency action plans.
· Ensure site supervisors are prepared for emergency situations.
· Regularly conduct safety reviews of Axiom job sites and ensure safety issues are corrected.
· Ensure daily JSAs are done and assist job supervision whenever possible.
· Interact with general contractors or construction managers to ensure a safe work environment.
· Participate actively on the Safety Committee.
· Attend job site safety and pre-construction meetings.
· Provide specific training for coworkers (e.g., equipment, confined space, lockout/tagout, Haz-Com).
· Ensure operators are qualified and equipment inspections are completed.
· Teach OSHA 10 & 30 Hour classes to coworkers.
· Ensure job supervision corrects unsatisfactory safety performance.
Workers' Compensation:
· Possess knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
· Investigate incidents to find root causes and communicate findings to project management.
· Share incident review summaries during toolbox talks.
· Track trends within Axiom and communicate them to job supervision.
· Ensure transportation is provided for injured coworkers.
Baseline Qualifications:
· Education and Experience: 2-5 years of construction experience, and/or 1-5 years of construction safety experience with a safety degree or certification. Minimum B.A. or construction experience with OSHA 30 HR training certification.
· Language and Communication Skills: Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, follow written instructions, and interpret various instructions. Knowledge of Federal and State construction and Workers' Compensation regulations. Ability to read prints and analyze information.
· Interpersonal Skills: Ability to follow tasks, work collaboratively, and present information positively to various stakeholders.
· Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to understand and modify spreadsheets.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems, recognize job site hazards, and develop preventative measures.
Physical Demands:
· Maneuver in and out of job site trailers and terrains.
· Use hands to handle or feel frequently.
· Regularly sit, talk, and listen; occasionally stand, walk, reach.
· Ability to exert physical effort handling objects up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
· Exposure to outside weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, and loud noises.
· Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
Training and Certifications:
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- 30-hour OSHA
- OSHA 500 Instructor Training
- Forklift/Aerial Lift Instructor Training
