Role Objective
This role is aligned to our largest manufacturing and distribution facility in Wooster, Ohio. As a HR Senior Generalist, this role proactively works with business leadership and HR Centers of Excellence to implement and harmonize processes in the development of strategies for organizational planning, talent development, building organizational capability, fostering employee engagement, and solving HR/Talent issues. This includes partnering with the leaders of their supported workgroups to create people and workforce strategies that drive results and create alignment to enterprise priorities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Demonstrate thorough understanding of business strategies, competitive landscape, and current and future business challenges.
Collaboratively create solutions from a holistic HR systems and process perspective within a relevant business context.
Successfully deliver enterprise and HR strategies.
Serve as a key, trusted advisor to leadership, particularly on people aspects of the business.
Influence work teams to make optimal decisions regarding people performance, development, and retention.
Partner with workgroup, process leaders, and HRBP for workforce and talent planning.
Consult with workgroup leaders to ensure human resource needs are met.
Guide business leaders in identifying, prioritizing, and building talent strategies, pipelines, behaviors, structures, and processes, supported by data and analysis.
Partner with Talent Management COE for organizational development and succession planning for key positions.
Recruit, interview, and select employees to meet staffing needs when necessary.
Guide organizational change through extensive knowledge of business and industry trends, relationship development, partnership skills, key internal processes, and HR experience.
Lead Employee Relations efforts for supported workgroups.
Lead talent planning and succession efforts for supported workgroups in partnership with HRBP.
Investigate accidents for supported workgroups and provide recommendations.
Respond to OCRC/EEO charges in partnership with HRBP and external counsel.
Provide coaching, performance, and disciplinary counsel to managers.
Maintain effective two-way communication with all employees.
Interpret HR policy for decision-making.
Make termination decisions for supported workgroups.
Guide transition planning for supported workgroups in partnership with HRBP.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field required
6-8 years of increasing responsibility as an HR Generalist/Specialist preferred
Ability to achieve results and manage multiple conflicting/changing priorities
Develop strong, trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results
Demonstrated responsiveness to customer groups
Work collaboratively across campuses, teams, and levels
Proactive and innovative change agent with a strong sense of urgency
Working knowledge of HR-related laws and regulations
Establish credibility at all organizational levels
Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
Employee Relations experience
Handle priority/sensitive issues with discretion and confidentiality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Supervision/Coordination
This position may direct the work of interns/summer students and will take direction from HRBP.
Travel Requirements
Travel between campus locations in Northeast Ohio as needed
