We design, develop, and build homes with a focus on quality, efficiency, and modern aesthetics. As we expand, we are looking for a Project Architect with strong Project Management skills to oversee our projects from design through construction.
About the Role
We are seeking a Project Architect / Project Manager to lead design, manage budget and timeline, coordinate consultants, and oversee construction activities on-site. This role will be based mostly at our project site office, ensuring daily project oversight while managing schedules, budgets, materials, and contracts.
The ideal candidate is an architecturally trained professional with strong construction knowledge and project management experience—someone who can ensure projects are executed efficiently while maintaining design integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Coordination
- Oversee projects from initial design through construction completion
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and workflow plans
- Act as the primary point of contact for contractors, consultants, and vendors
- Manage cost tracking, invoice approvals, and contract negotiations
Design & Construction Oversight
- Ensure design intent is followed during construction
- Conduct site visits daily to oversee contractor work and troubleshoot issues
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and material samples
- Identify construction defects, schedule delays, or cost overruns and provide solutions
Permitting & Compliance
- Prepare and submit permit applications to city/county agencies
- Ensure projects comply with building codes, zoning laws, and HOA guidelines
- Work closely with engineers and consultants to resolve permitting issues
Material Procurement & Contracts
- Research, source, and order building materials as needed
- Manage bids and contracts for subcontractors and suppliers
- Track material deliveries and on-site inventory
Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in architecture, construction management, or real estate development
- Professional degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field
- Strong construction knowledge (single-family home experience preferred)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience with project scheduling software (Buildertrend or similar)
- Strong contract negotiation and cost estimation skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Architect (RA) or on the path to licensure
- Experience with real estate development or financing
- Understanding of local permitting processes in Arlington, VA
- Previous work in design-build firms or small development companies
