Position Summary:
Controller is responsible for assisting the Gold Medal CFO in leading the Controllership and accounting functional areas including accounting and controls, financial reporting, cost accounting, AP, AR & payroll. This role will be based in Cincinnati and support the 16 Gold Medal Branch operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage quality month-end closing, oversee journal entries and GL account reconciliation, Inventory & LIFO reconciliations including the preparation of financial statements for several legal entities.
Responsible for intercompany transactions and reporting.
Standardize, communicate, train, and help enforce financial accounting and control systems, standards, policies, and procedures across the organization.
Drive improvements across Controllership processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Lead the operational business accounting teams in developing, tracking, and reporting key strategic and financial metrics for internal consumption.
Serve as point for the annual audit & tax (outsourced preparation) work.
Research technical accounting issues and write memos as needed.
Fill temporary resourcing needs that may come up across the Controllership organization.
Collaborate, provide input on, and/or lead M&A integration activities for the Controllership function.
Other duties may be assigned.
Limited travel requirements for this role.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in accounting; and a minimum of 7-10 years related experience.
Experience in public accounting combined with corporate accounting and operational finance experience in manufacturing environment is ideal.
Business knowledge in sales, distribution, manufacturing, & purchasing preferred.
Cost or plant accounting experience is also preferred.
Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills.
CPA is preferred
