What are the responsibilities and job description for the Route Sales Representative position at Gold Rush Distribution?
The hourly-based position is responsible for driving revenue growth within assigned sales territory by executing the company’s direct store delivery (DSD) sales strategy to grow brand/product revenue within each account. This individual will do this via effective planning, distribution, selling and ordering as well as managing activities such as merchandising. An individual having a Class B (CDL) license is preferred, although class C license will still be considered depending on experience.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Develop complete knowledge of our product portfolio and company policies and procedures in order to optimize sales and meet customer needs
- In-store space management, proper schematics and flavor selection
- Truck inventory management/product selection to ensure you have sufficient product for each day and most efficiently complete sales transactions
- Stock shelves/bunkers and rotate product and ensure inventory is fully stocked and presentable when service is complete
- Sell new products and promotions at store level with flawless execution
- Maximizes sale in every store by introducing items from our portfolio that store does not currently carry or conduct pricing analysis of current provider
- Ensure you are prepared with supporting materials (POS/Pricing and Pre order forms) at all times
- Determine the unique selling needs of each store on your route
- Build strong relationships with store owners and create rapport with appropriate staff members in all accounts, communicate with staff during service calls, respond to customer requests, maintain relationships with customers to support selling activities, key store managers know your name
- Conduct a VRA (Virtual Ride Along) at every scheduled store each day so as to facilitate continuous sales improvement
- Manage company assets in every store on every serve and alert management of discrepancies
- Identify and act on selling opportunities, respond to competitor activities, maintain/increase space, make secondary placements, gain extra displays, use POS
- Respond to change with positive attitude, offer suggestions for improvements to increase effectiveness of change, support new initiatives, maintains an open mind.
- Adhere to route schedule, properly orders authorized product, maintain proper inventory, set stores to schematic, manage out of stocks
- Follow company requirements regarding proofs of delivery and timely deposit of collections from customers.
Required Skills
- Sales experience is a plus; an aptitude to learn and utilize sales tactics is a must
- Temperature: work regularly in cold temperatures (-20 degrees F)
- Must be able to lift or carry up to 50lbs several times per day
- Frequent walking/Kneeling and bending throughout the day basic requirements
- Read write and speak English
- Must have basic math ability
- Must have a valid clean license (CDL Class B preferred)
- Must be able to pass DOT physical and drug test
