The Business Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of GHSA throughout the year. This position involves handling administrative duties, managing player and team registrations, processing payments, maintaining communication with stakeholders, overseeing league logistics, and acting as Tournament Director for GHSA-hosted events. The role is busiest during the softball season (April–August) and requires presence at the complex during games.
Key Responsibilities:
Year-Round Duties:
- Check and manage GHSA’s mail and email account.
- Process payments, deposits, and bills.
- Act as the primary point of contact (POC) for GHSA when communicating with the State Board and other softball associations.
- Maintain and update the GHSA website.
- Answer and address concerns from coaches and players.
Pre-Season (January–April):
- Open team and player registrations.
- Renew all seasonal contracts.
- Prepare coach packets.
- Schedule field grooming and maintenance.
- Complete opening season tasks (turn on power, internet, security, etc.).
During the Softball Season (May–August):
- Be present at the complex during all games (must secure a replacement if unavailable).
- Enforce complex rules and manage field usage.
- Oversee and manage team and player registrations.
- Prepare umpire scorecards and team lineup sheets.
- Act as Tournament Director for all GHSA-hosted tournaments (unless a replacement is identified).
- Secure the building and complex at the end of each game night.
- Monitor weather conditions and make game cancellation decisions based on GHSA policy.
- Document game scores and results.
Post-Season (September–December):
- Complete end-of-season tasks (turn off power, internet, security, etc.).
- Continue administrative duties, including checking mail, managing emails, and paying bills.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle financial transactions and maintain accurate records.
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions.
- Experience with website management and basic administrative tasks preferred.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the softball season.
