Who We Are
Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.

Who You Are
You have 1 to 3 years of experience in environmental health, safety, and loss control in a mining or similar setting, with a strong focus on safety. Your solid communication skills help build a safety-first mindset among site colleagues. You’re skilled in both verbal and written communication, proficient with computer applications, and organized, making you a valuable team player.
This is a safety sensitive position. As the Environmental Health and Safety Technician you report to Site Manager.
What You Do
- Support in delivering site, safety, and environmental training sessions for employees, contractors, and vendors.
- Aid in providing MSHA training for both new and seasoned miners.
- Assist with investigating incidents and accidents.
- Conduct routine safety and environmental inspections to ensure regulatory compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies.
- Support monitoring of noise, dust, and other compliance programs.
- Aid in air permitting and compliance efforts.
- Take part in inspections by MSHA and OSHA.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports promptly.
- Conduct monitoring and sampling tasks as outlined by company policies and procedures.
- Complete monthly responsibilities, including tasks like water sampling, production tracking, well measurements, hazardous waste storage, and hazardous waste handling.
- Keep detailed training and inspection records.
- Implement company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Engage actively with the workforce to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through regular communication, mentoring, and reinforcement of safe work practices.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s Environmental Management System (including approvals, permits, training, and compliance).
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- 1 to 3 years of experience in environmental, health and safety, and loss control within a typical mining setting or similar environment.
- MSHA/OSHA instructor certification preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience in organizing safety meetings.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and update policies and procedures regularly.
- Basic knowledge of safety, health, and environmental laws and regulations applicable to a mining environment.
- Consistent, reliable attendance.
- Proficiency with computer applications.
- Strong organizational skills.
- EMT training is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
