Job Title: Accounting Specialist (strong AP focus)
Location: Emeryville, CA (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 (may slightly stretch if bring legal industry experience)
Job Description:
We are seeking an Accounting Specialist with a primary focus on Accounts Payable (AP) to join our legal firm client in Emeryville, CA. This role involves high-volume invoice processing, primarily handling payables related to settlements and trials. The ideal candidate will have experience in the accounting functions of a law firm and be proficient in QuickBooks and Excel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable (90% of the role):
- Process a high volume of invoices, including those for settlements, trials, and various other expenses.
- Manage Concur expense reimbursements and credit card reconciliations.
- Process check requests for court payments.
- Handle payables related to co-counsel partnerships, including revenue splits and proper coding of funds.
- Apply receipts to funds instead of operating accounts.
- Perform occasional cost reporting.
- Ensure accurate data entry in QuickBooks.
- Accounts Receivable (10% of the role):
- Handle minor aspects of collections related to co-counsel partnerships.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with occasional audits, preparing documents for the external CPA.
- Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and senior accountants for check requests and other accounting needs.
- Provide support to the Operations Manager and respond to senior accountants' requests.
Requirements:
- Non-negotiable Skills:
- Proficiency in QuickBooks.
- Strong knowledge and use of Excel (manipulating large data downloads from vendors, managing spreadsheets).
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in a law firm, understanding legal language and nuances of invoices.
- Familiarity with Concur for expense management.
