What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler position at GOLDEN WEST PACKAGING GROUP LLC?
The Scheduler/planner position manages and oversees’ the workflow of production orders with the highest level of accuracy, efficiency, and quality. Expedites the day-to-day planning and scheduling of plant material flow, production, and shipment as well as conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and on time deliveries. Compiles reports on work in progress, inventory levels, cost, and production issues. Manages scheduling process to ensure all orders are produced, aligned with operational goals and optimize profitability.
Coordinate orders and requirements for roll stock while maintaining accurate roll stock inventory and FIFO process.
Monitors real-time forecast for corrugated and roll stock consumption, taking corrective action to optimize supply and minimize excessive inventory. This includes forecasting roll stock and corrugated sheets by grade and size to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
Calculate and order corrugated sheets and ensure suppliers complete and deliver orders within the required dates. Review invoices to ensure correct pricing before submitting to AP for payment.
Develop and maintain standard workflow process and prove a one month look ahead for planning.
Create production schedules that ensure continuous plant operations, work center efficiency and minimize any foreseeable plant downtime.
Identify and resolve inventory issues caused by deviations or data entry errors.
Determine workflow through the plant and analyze backlog for overtime needs for production floor.
Communicate cross-functionally with Customer Experience Group, Plant Manager, raw material availability and need for machine preventative maintenance, late shipments, expedited orders and modify daily production plans to accommodate new information.
Balance competing needs, metrics (i.e., trim efficiency, shipment time, freight loading optimization) and goals to arrive at the optimal scheduling and logistic solution for all parties while maximizing throughput.
Continuously identifying innovative ways to improve trim efficiency, reduce waste, and maximize machine utilization
Comprehensive knowledge of scheduling and planning in a manufacturing environment with multiple machine centers.
Comprehensive knowledge of workflow processes, efficiencies and logistics.
Strong math skills.
Ability to solve problems in a timely and effective manner.
Works collaboratively with others in a fluid working environment with multiple tasks and deadlines at once.
Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills. Ability to take and follow instructions furnished in written and verbal form.

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
Associate’s degree or higher in business, accounting and or engineering preferred.
