We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Review patient medical records to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG codes to diagnoses and procedures based on established guidelines.
- Ensure accuracy in medical billing by verifying that all codes are correctly applied to patient accounts.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in medical records or coding.
- Process claims for insurance reimbursement and manage follow-up on unpaid claims.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing regulations.
- Assist in the management of medical collections and resolve any billing inquiries from patients or insurance companies.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and DRG classifications is essential.
- Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently are critical for success in this role.
