IT Operations Manager

Description

General Summary: Reports to the Director of Information Technology, who provides objectives, timelines, resources, and responsibilities to support the current and future needs of Gonzaba Medical Group.   This position is responsible for the design, organization, implementation, and maintenance of information technology infrastructure to execute operational goals and objectives and works collaboratively with other team members and stakeholders to plan and implement information technology projects. This position is challenged to establish and improve information technology operational functionality, and is responsible for the development, coaching, and mentoring of IT support staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is responsible for managing employees and contracted vendors.

General Requirements: All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner.

1. In collaboration with the Director, Information Technology and Executive Director, Business Operations and through subordinate organizations, staff, and consultants, or personally:
   • Provides strategy and direction and leads operational planning for the Department including fostering innovation, technology direction, planning projects and services, stakeholder management, and organizing and overseeing the planning and allocation of resources.
   • Benchmarks, analyzes, documents, and recommends improvements for the growth of technology infrastructure and associated systems.
   • Anticipates, assesses, and oversees Departmental projects and project portfolio.
2. Works with IT support team, both internal and contracted, to manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of all company systems, including servers, databases, storage solutions, network devices, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
3. Aligns with department leaders and other stakeholders to define Technology operations requirements for new technology implementations.
4. Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for departmental spending and initiatives.
5. Supports established service and department metrics and ensures documentation of service data, including staff hours-to-uptime and incident responses. On regular and incidental basis, reviews and assesses service, including readiness for and responses of support.
6. Manages an enterprise-wide technology business continuity and disaster recovery plan along with the Director of Information Technology. Performs and reviews the results of system tests, system failures, and system failure analyses. Identifies any maintenance or repair practices or procedures that potentially compromise or degrade subsystems. Responsible for the integrity and performance of the backup systems and disaster recovery availability.
7. Responsible for the training, development, and mentoring of direct reports and support staff; provides opportunities for skills expansion and career development.
8. Maintains strict confidentiality.
9. Other duties as assigned.

7. Operating Systems: Required – Advanced Windows Desktop and Servers, Intermediate Linux
8. Applications: Required – Active Directory, GPO, Azure (including DR), VMware, vSphere, Okta, Veeam, Event Collection, Remote Desktop Services, Citrix, Bitlocker, Unifi. Optional – RIS, PACS, Mirth, Qvera, MEDQ
9. Network: Required – Domain Management, Firewall/Switch/Router configuration, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, IP Networking, VPN, MFA, Certificate Services, Wireless Networking
10. Hardware: Required – servers, workstations, virtual machine hosts, NAS/SAN, UPS
11. This position will require driving a company vehicle or a personal vehicle; therefore, employees must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess, and maintain a current valid Texas Driver License, and proof of current insurance to be subject for mileage reimbursement.

Education and Training: Minimum high school education or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or management information systems (MIS) preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively perform all duties and responsibilities.

Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of experience implementing and supporting large networks and virtual infrastructure required.

Work Environment: Works primarily in an office setting and periodically in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Mental / Physical Requirements: Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs. without assistance. Close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work efficiently under pressure.
