Job Description
The Optical Process Engineer is key role for expanding our growth for our precision OEM photonics components. The Optical Process Engineer is an integral part of our management team to improve the manufacturing processes, determine the appropriate use of capital for cost improvements and addition of new components into the portfolio. Manage, mentor, and grow the existing engineering team. This role requires a strong understanding of the optical manufacturing processes required to produce sub-angstrom polished optical components and develop a team capable of improving the business. This position will report into the Engineering Manager at Moorpark.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review customer opportunities and propose cost effective optical solutions.
- Develop and improve polishing and manufacturing process in the production of precision glass optics. Produced optics from BK7, Zerodur, Silicon and other similar optical materials.
- Strong experience in root cause analysis and continues improvement in a job shop environment.
- Develop/support processes and create work instructions to be used by shop technicians. Initiate and optimize new procedures and adjust existing ones.
- Contribution to and participation in formal and informal design reviews; Development and approval of engineering changes (ECN s), coordination of parts procurement and prototype construction. Conduct reviews for own designs. Participate in reviews of other designers designs.
- Tooling and Equipment design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, and report preparation.
- Collect and analyze information to report timely required information to different users and management. Provide regular status reporting to applicable manufacturing departments to enable them to take required actions.
- Develop optical and manufacturing tooling design
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors or MSc in Optical Engineering or related field
- >5-years experience in optical process engineering
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Expert in optical manufacturing processes.
- Fully proficient in the ISO 9001/ISO 13485, AS90001 frameworks
- Proven ability to work colab team trough significant period of growth
- Due to US export control laws, must be a US citizen, permanent resident or have protected status.
- Location & travel
This position will be based in Moorpark, CA.
There may be requirements to travel to address optical design and manufacturing challenges
