What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Supervisor position at Good Day Farm?
The Packaging Supervisor ensures efficient and effective operations within the packaging department including working with the Packaging Manager on the implementation of new packaging procedures for new products and packaging as business needs evolve. Responsibilities include day-to-day supervision of packaging operations and the implementation of new and updated packaging SOPs. The Packaging Supervisor will train and manage packaging personnel to meet a consistent, high standard of work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise all cannabis packaging processes, personnel, and equipment
- Develop and refine procedures for cannabis packaging
- Oversee compliance with state regulations, manage staff schedules, ensure use of compliance software
- Supervise compliance verification of finished goods and packaging before product transfer
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback to staff, while effectively addressing and escalating concerns as needed.
- Leads and oversees training initiatives for Technicians I,II, III, and Lead, ensuring advanced techniques are taught, skills are assessed, and personalized coaching is provided to elevate overall team performance in packaging operations.
- Oversees cleanliness and organization within the Packaging department, ensuring all areas meet compliance standards and setting expectations for the team.
- Represent the department in leadership groups when manager is unavailable
- Maintain material inventories and manage machine cleaning and maintenance
- Ensuring the effective implementation of label printing processes, reviewing troubleshooting reports, and making recommendations for system and equipment repairs.
- Ensure SOPS are up to date and assist with staff training on new procedures.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, conducting reviews, and administering corrective actions when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma
- 2 to 3 years’ experience managing hourly employees.
- Prior experience in training team members
- Experience with kitchen-related or manufacturing-related management is strongly preferred.
- Proficient computer knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and comfortable learning new software
