What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Department Clerk position at Good Harvest Market?
Good Harvest Market, Waukesha County's largest independently owned natural and organic grocer, is currently seeking to hire a part-time meat clerk.
The right candidate must have afternoon/evening and weekend availability. The latest our store closes is 8pm and the meat department typically closes sooner.
Our meat department combines an old-school friendly neighborhood butcher feel with a focus on humanely raised, grass fed and pasture raised meats and sustainably sourced seafood.
While this is not a meat cutting/butchery position, often times our entry level, customer service focused meat clerks will learn some butchery skills over time from our trained meat cutters. These skills are in demand and can lead to well paying careers in the meat cutting trade.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- providing exceptional customer service
- weighing, cutting, and packaging fresh meats and seafood to order
- cleaning the department
- stocking, rotating, and properly dating and maintaining inventory
Requirements for this position:
- must be 18 years old
- ability to lift 70 lbs (can be a physical position)
- ability to work in varying temperatures (cooler, freezer, outdoors as needed)
- evening and weekend availability, with some flexibility as needed
- a passion for providing natural and organic options to our community and a desire to learn
