Garden Center Associate $15.00 – 16.00/hour
Full Time or Part Time– Weekends are required.
We are hiring for seasonal positions in multiple departments: Annuals, Veggies, Perennials, Trees, and more. These positions are responsible for caring and displaying our plants as well as welcoming and assisting customers.
Daily Tasks
- Plant watering and coordinating plant care with co-workers.
- Inspection of work area daily for weeds, insects, diseases, damage, moisture problems, pruning needs, signage, and overall quality control.
- Restocking from back stock and ensuring inventory is on display.
- Organizing and merchandising inventory.
- Customer service, answering questions, sales transactions, etc…
- Friendly greeting and eye contact with customers as they pass you in the nursery. Ensure that they are promptly helped if needed.
- Ready to assist customers in bringing large items to the register; asking for help with carry-outs when needed.
- Any other assigned tasks as directed by management.
Required
- Basic knowledge of gardening and plants, with the ability to care for outdoor plants.
- Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds repeatedly.
- Prepared to work outdoors daily in a variety of weather conditions.
- Responsible for checking schedules and showing up promptly for your shifts.
- Able to perform shared general-cleaning tasks.
- Organized and able to prioritize tasks.
- Friendly, polite, and courteous with customers and fellow employees. No offensive language.
Dress Code: Dress appropriately for the weather
- Clean, good condition T-shirt or polo shirt.
- Clean, good condition jeans, pants, or shorts.
- Slip resistant, durable, & comfortable outdoor shoes or sandals; no flip flops.
- Sweatshirt and/or rain jacket with a hood. Most of the work is outdoors.
