Position Title: Donor Engagement Officer

Status: Part-time, hourly $19.00 - $20.00
Description:
The Donor Engagement Officer is responsible for cultivating and strengthening relationships with individual donors, businesses, and other key supporters of the Good News Rescue Mission. Reporting to the Development Director, this role focuses on donor stewardship, engagement, and retention by fostering meaningful connections that inspire generosity.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in sales, customer service, nonprofit development, or account management who thrives on building relationships and communicating mission impact. The Donor Engagement Officer will be a key part of the fundraising team, ensuring that donors feel valued and connected to the Mission’s work.
Key Responsibilities:
· Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors through personalized outreach, including phone calls, emails, handwritten notes, and in-person meetings.
· Develop and implement donor engagement strategies to deepen relationships and increase donor retention.
· Assist in planning and executing donor appreciation events, tours, and other engagement opportunities.
· Collaborate with the Development Director to identify and cultivate major donor prospects.
· Track and document donor interactions in the donor management system to ensure accurate records and personalized follow-ups.
· Work with the marketing and communications team to share impact stories, donor spotlights, and updates that reinforce donor appreciation.
· Stay informed of best practices in donor stewardship, relationship management, and engagement.
Qualifications & Experience:
· At least two years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, sales, customer service, or account management (nonprofit experience preferred but not required).
· Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
· Strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ and active participation in a Christian community.
· Agreement with and willingness to sign the Good News Rescue Mission’s statement of Christian faith, with the ability to share that faith with donors and staff.
· Passion for serving individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a heart for connecting with people.
· Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including the ability to craft compelling donor messages.
· Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple relationships and projects.
· Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel) and donor/customer management software (CRM experience preferred).
· Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
· Experience handling customer or donor inquiries with professionalism and care.
· Ability to communicate impact and inspire generosity.
· Professional, mission-driven mindset with a commitment to excellence.

Pleasant working environment; maybe exposed to cold occasionally. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employee may come into contact with irate and irrational clients who may or may not be under the influence of mind-altering substances such as cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, etc,. or be mentally or physically disabled. Employee may be regularly exposed to some risk of communicable disease from guests of facility, exposure to TB and other respiratory diseases.
