Job Summary: Provides emergency evaluations and direct services to a wide range of clients within a hospital setting. Services are provided to mentally ill, chemically dependent, dually diagnosed, developmentally disabled, or medically impaired. Reviews all evaluations with a staff psychiatrist. Documents services and recommendations within the medical record.
Essential Job Duties:
- Triage routine, urgent and emergent requests for services.
- Perform urgent and emergent psychiatric evaluations within Good Samaritan Hospital.
- Staff psychiatric evaluations as soon as possible.
- Convey appropriate clinical information to Samaritan Center and GSH physicians, nursing and direct care staff.
- Provide instructions and education to referral sources, individuals and families.
- Provide referral information regarding other community/regional services.
- Complete clinical documentation before end of their shift.
- Assists with admissions to LaSalle Unit or transfers to other psychiatric hospitals.
Secondary Job Duties:
- All other job duties assigned.
- Communicates with intake staff regarding availability/changes of outside resources for referral.
- Communicates/Educates other hospitals and referral agencies regarding our policies and practices.
- Interacts with law enforcement and court personnel to facilitate involuntary admissions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education -- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
Experience -- Prefer two years of direct counseling, social work experience. Must have or be eligible to apply for License at time of employment. Previous work in crisis intervention preferred. Training in crisis intervention and urgent/emergency delivery of services required.
