What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Support Staff- Recuperative Care position at Good Samaritan Shelter?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
9 am- 5:30 pm Tuesday- Saturday
- Complete and maintain accurate records or reports regarding the clients histories, progress, services provided, and other required information.
- Monitor clients assuring they are safe and provided with compassionate care.
- Provide administrative support as needed, such as reviewing or submitting paperwork, organizing and maintaining files, gathering and inputting data.
- Provide triage assessment for client medical needs
- Regular and frequent monitoring of vital signs (pulse, temperature, respiration)and recording information.
- Prepares meals and snacks for clients and ensures the facility is well maintained.
- Transporting clients as required.
- Knowledge of symptoms consistent with substance abuse and withdrawal.
- Participate in case conferences or staff meetings.
- Experience with Trauma Informed care and de-escalation techniques.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Education in the medical field, medical terminology and/or work experience.
- EMT Certification, CNA or Medical Assistant Certification
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write or type simple correspondence. Ability to use basic computer functions. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid California Driver’s License required

- Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening according to Federal Guidelines and TB test is required.
