About the Role
The Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver to residents during scheduled work periods in long-term care. This role provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivers age-appropriate care related to physical and psychological needs of residents as per care plan.
- Assists with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining/vital signs.
- Provides psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents.
- Assists residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment.
- Provides range of motion and passive exercises.
- Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining to create a positive dining experience for residents.
- Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
Requirements
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred but not required.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
- Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits for each year.
