Job Summary: The Nursing Assistant serves as a caregiver to residents during scheduled work periods in long-term care. This role involves providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Key responsibilities include assisting with basic health care needs, such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned residents.
The Nursing Assistant also assists residents with meals and snacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate, and aids providers and nursing staff members with procedures if needed. Documentation of resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary is essential. Effective communication of resident changing conditions and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse is crucial.
Required Skills and Qualifications: A high school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) is preferred but not required. Minimum age of 16 is required. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care is preferred. Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
