DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
WHO WE ARE
Good Shepherd parish is the only Catholic parish in Franklin County and is in Frankfort. Good Shepherd has been a major contributor to the education and spiritual growth of Frankfort for over 175 years. We were able to accomplish this through our Catholic faith and desire to love God, love our neighbor, and make disciples. We provide a range of ministry opportunities, but our major ministry is our school.
THE POSITIOIN
We are seeking a Director of Development to play a key role in securing roughly $1.2 M per year in funding from the Good Shepherd Community and other local organizations to support Good Shepherd parish, school, and their respective ministries. The Director will oversee annual fund-raising activities to fund our operations and outreach to the county.
The Director will also maintain channels of communication with parishioners, students’ parents, and those in need of our outreach via various social media platforms, websites, etc. The Director will report to the pastor.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Create compelling written materials, including our quarterly emagazine, weekly ereports, worship aids, and reports
- Conduct research to determine the efficiency of operations, fundraising capabilities.
- Work with our Parish staff, school staff and volunteers to understand their particular resource needs to provide substance for our fundraising efforts.
- There is a possibility that the director may need to develop content for grant proposals and other materials designed to increase involvement, attract volunteers, etc.
- Assist the school principal, facilities manager and business managers with annual budgets.
- Attend required staff meetings and be available to “pitch in” as needed to fulfill our mission.
Steward relationships with parishioners and donors.
- Strengthen Good Shepherd’s relationships with organization and major personal donors.
- Manage requests for updates of the effectiveness of our ministries such as, number of people served, current enrollment at school, and other questions donors may have in order for Good Shepherd to remain transparency.
- Recognize and appreciate key donors.
Ensure Good Shepherd achieves its fundraising goals
- Assist our office manager with the maintenance of our parish database. Manage a portfolio of 10 mid-level donors and support with 25 - 30 regional prospects, employing strategic cultivation and solicitation techniques to achieve fundraising targets.
- Be the contact for third party fund raising organizations. Provide accurate data for outside fund raising to run the campaigns effectively.
- Work with volunteers to ensure that our ad hoc projects are proceeding as expected.
- Work with our Finance Council to ensure that our operation budgets accurately capture the expected future funds.

- You are motivated by working in an environment where we live out our Catholic values daily and are eager to engage in dialogue with those whose values may differ or may have opinions that differ from yours.
Ideal candidates may also demonstrate the following preferred qualifications:
- You bring experience with fundraising, budgeting proposal development, or other areas of work related to grants.
- You have experience with maintaining a website and social media accounts.
