Compensation Range: $41.14-$63.40/hour

DEFINITION OF POSITION:
Provide health care services, applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Perform ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in the field of Vascular US. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Verifies patient's clinical history and correlates it with the procedure, ensuring documentation is accurate and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
Prepares patients for procedures by providing clear instructions to achieve desired results, ensure cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Selects and operates ultrasound equipment and related devices to achieve optimal results.
Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, while considering patient comfort and capabilities.
Immobilizes patients as necessary for proper examination.
Determines appropriate ultrasonic frequencies and transducers for the specific anatomic area of interest.
Evaluates images for technical quality, ensuring proper patient identification is recorded.
Verifies informed consent and assists a licensed practitioner during interventional procedures.
Follows aseptic techniques when necessary.
Understands and is proficient in performing venipunctures.
Assumes responsibility for addressing the physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures.
In accordance with state regulations and/or institutional policy, prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
Initiates basic life support actions when necessary.
Adheres to Universal Precautions to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
Provides patient education to enhance understanding of procedures.
Assists in maintaining accurate records while ensuring confidentiality in line with established policies.
Takes responsibility for the assigned area and promptly reports any equipment malfunctions.
Bilingual (English-Spanish) skills preferred, with the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse population.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
Graduate of a Committee Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA)-accredited sonography program or an equivalent program.
Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or another approved certification in Vascular Ultrasound.
Licensed as an Ultrasound Technologist or Radiologic Technologist/Sonographer in the State of Oregon.
Experience:
One or more years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Good general health is required.
Ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
Frequent standing and walking.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an indoor environment, protected from weather conditions.
Exposure to variable noise levels.
Occasional interaction with combative patients or verbal altercations with coworkers.
Subject to a rapid-paced environment, creating an unpredictable work setting.
