Summary of the position:
Provides personal laundry service to the residents of The Welty Home. Provide housekeeping services to the residents of The Welty Home as well as for the general living area, public restrooms and offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Orders name labels for clothing; affixes name labels to clothing as needed
- Separates clothing according to color and texture; selects proper water level & cycle, and measures proper amount of detergent
- Dries clothing properly. Irons clothing as needed. No clothing is to be returned in a wrinkled state. Folds or hangs clothing neatly
- Sorts clothing according to room number for distribution
- Keeps laundry room clean and neat: sweeps floor and rugs daily. Wipes off washers and dryers daily
- Place soiled sheets, pillow cases, blankets and bed pads in a “container” for transport to Good Shepherd Nursing Home weekly for washing and drying.
- Clean resident’s rooms weekly. This includes cleaning bathroom, dusting, mopping and vacuuming
- Change residents bedding once a week
- Clean and stock public restrooms daily
- Clean kitchenette on all 3 floors weekly or as needed
- Clean chapel weekly
- Clean lobby and lower level Activity room weekly
- Clean Beauty Shop, Nursing office and Therapy room weekly
- Defrost resident refrigerators as needed
- Run carpet scrubber on resident floors as needed
- Sweep and mop stairwells weekly or as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Administrator or Manager
Qualifications
Experience/Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Professional laundry/housekeeping experience helpful, but not necessary
Neat, clean appearance
Ability to communicate with residents, families, and with other staff members
Walking, bending, standing most of the shift
