Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for review of weekly wound round assessments and documentation and follow up with Supervisor and Charge Nurses regarding assessments, treatment plans, concerns. Updates Director of Nursing weekly on Pressure Injuries.
Works with Nurses to ensure appropriate treatments plans for Pressure Injuries.
Updates skin protocol as needed and provides education as updates occur.
Responsible for staff education on Wound Round updates/changes.
Responsible for staff education on Preventative Skin Measures.
Oversees the visits by the Podiatrist, audiology, dentist. Responsible for the physician progress notes.
Responsible for updating policies and procedures related to Skin/Pressure Injuries.
Coordinates Psychiatrist visits, assists with rounds. Communicates with the Unit Supervisor and the Pharmacist regarding antipsychotics, antidepressants, antianxiety medications. Communicates with the Psychiatrist regarding any issues/problems between visits.
Assists with West Virginia Pre-Admission Screenings.
Oversees the Restorative Program. Evaluates the Restorative Programs monthly and completes the monthly documentation. Communicates with the Therapy Department to ensure that the appropriate programs are ordered and updates the Unit Supervisors with any changes.
Monitors physician visits to assure compliance with federal regulations. Sends notification to physicians of when they are required to visit to maintain compliance. Reports non-compliance to the Medical Director, Administrator, and Director of Nursing monthly.
Assists with the Orientation process with new Nursing Supervisors.
Maintains the Educate the Educator certificate. Has the ability to function in the role of the clinical/lecture instructor. Ability to plan and schedule a new CNA class, complete and submit the application to OHFLAC, plan and implement the orientation and class material, complete and submit all required documents for class completion and state testing.
Coordinates the functions of the Utilization Review Committee for compliance with Medicare/Medicaid regulations. Attends the monthly meetings and is responsible for the meeting minutes.
Responsible for auditing all admission charts to ensure completion. Responsible for follow up with the Admitting Nurse as needed for any recommendations.
Completes weekly unit review /competencies/audits/critical element pathways/medication administration, and treatment observation.
Responsible for completion of wound round education for all new nurses. Responsible for completion of yearly competencies for all nursing staff.
Responsible for reviewing resident falls, completion of post fall assessments, implementing fall interventions following resident falls, and conducting an audit of care plans to ensure that fall interventions and fall dates have been updated.
Responsible for updating pharmacy orders/narcotics per the request of the Moundsville Pharmacy.
Responsible for weekly updates of the 802 for pressure ulcers.
All other Job duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed in West Virginia
Geriatric nursing experience
Effective communication skills
