What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director position at Good Shepherd Preschool and Child Care?
The Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and educational programming of the daycare center. They will ensure a nurturing and safe environment that aligns with the center’s faith-based mission, as well as compliance with licensing requirements and childcare best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Spiritual Guidance
- Uphold and promote the faith-based mission and values of the daycare center.
- Integrate faith-based teachings and values into the curriculum.
2. Operational Management
- Ensure the center complies with all state and local licensing requirements.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Manage budgets, tuition collection, and financial reports.
- Coordinate and oversee enrollment processes.
3. Curriculum & Program Development
- Collaborate with teachers to create age-appropriate lesson plans.
- Ensure curriculum aligns with spiritual, social, emotional, and cognitive development goals.
- Regularly evaluate and update curriculum and teaching methods.
4. Staff Management
- Hire, train, and manage daycare staff and teachers.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Promote a positive, faith-centered work environment.
5. Parent & Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication and conferences.
- Organize community events, outreach, and family activities.
- Address parent concerns promptly and effectively.
6. Health & Safety
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in compliance with regulations.
- Implement emergency preparedness procedures and conduct regular safety drills.
Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years in childcare management, within a childcare setting preferred. Associate's degree required. Candidates must be available to work between 6 am -6 pm.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of state licensing, PTQ, and CACFP Program requirements.
- Financial and budget management experience.
- Ability to work with diverse families and staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
