Essential Functions
- Design team management, oversee all design team work and guide staff in maintaining high standards in all areas of design both internally and externally.
- Develop design team's business plan, quarterly tracking and revenue goals
- Recruitment, training, and mentoring of design staff
- Provide design team performance evaluations to determine career path guidance and goal development
- Scheduling of multiple projects, prioritizing, and designating staff to accomplish maximum productivity
- Delegating work load to supporting team members as required, scheduling and review of quality & accuracy of that work
- Forecasting and tracking of design time and revenue
- Timeslips reports detailing in management of project's time, budget constraints and staff productivity
- Review and approval of comprehensive design contracts and establishing scope of project
- Technical assistance areas:
- Development of color and material presentations
- Product research and vendor communication
- AutoCAD base building input
- Input of furniture layouts and space plans into CAP Studio
- Input of construction and demolition drawings into AutoCAD
- Translations from other CAD systems to the current network system used by Goodmans
- Ability to work with other software such as Timeslips, Microsoft Windows
- Job file set-up & maintenance per design and company standards
- Field verification and measurement of a site, both new & existing
- Space planning, typical development, and systems furniture layout
- Product take-off, specifications of systems and conventional product
- Development of installation drawings
- Full application of Codes and ADA requirements to a given project
- Full application of Electrical and Data for a given project
- Absolute understanding of a client programming requirements
- Develop conceptual design and block planning for a project
- Develop details for casework and custom furniture details
- Ability to inventory all HMI product and assimilate information unassisted
- Define the scope of a project, assessing customer needs and programming design applications. Absolute understanding of client program requirements
- Review of content and format of all presentations
- Ultimate responsibility for deadlines
- Communication of product knowledge for installation
- Design log tracking all estimated time and dollars to actual billed and accrued time
- Development of bills for a customer for design revenue
- Ensuring client satisfaction for design process
- Approval of final project installation adjustments to ensure design intent
- Support and model Goodmans’ core values
- Works well in a team environment
- Involvement in branch and company ideas, philosophies, and direction
- Set up and maintain project files per Goodman’s standards
- Create product and material presentations
- Work with other software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Z-axis, and Sketch Up
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field
- Portfolio exhibits training in space planning, AutoCAD, color and material coordination, and basic design theory
- Five or more years of professional design experience, including experience involving all phases of commercial design
- Working toward or have attained NCIDQ testing and an active member in a professional organization
- Minimum of five years working in the Design field
