Orientation and Mobility Instructor
$750 Sign-On Bonus (Restrictions Apply).
Summary
The Orientation and Mobility Instructor will be responsible for all phases of mobility training for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. In addition, the Orientation and Mobility Instructor will provide information and referrals to individuals who are visually impaired in the community as well as related service agencies. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervises and conducts all mobility training and instruction to individuals who are visually impaired utilizing the appropriate techniques and travel experiences required.
Develops an information and referral system for use by individuals who are visually impaired in the community.
Maintains a close working relationship with referral sources to ensure that the needs of persons referred to the facility are met.
Generates written reports for mobility assessments and training with emphasis on recommendations and the use of low vision devices, aids and appliances.
Maintains all necessary documentation required by the Agency, CARF, and other regulatory and funding organizations.
Attend trainings and/or seminars and report CEU’s as required by the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP) to maintain certification.
Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited university offering orientation and mobility training.
One to two years’ experience in mobility training and functional low vision assessment is preferred.
Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation, low vision assessment, and orientation and mobility techniques is required.
Qualifications
Must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider.
Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.
