The Good Prints Acadiana screen print & embroidery manager should have an eye for detail to oversee the agency’s social enterprise operation. The print shop supports Goodwill Acadiana's mission of providing supportive employment to individuals with barriers. This job requires attention to detail, providing a quality product to its customers, and expanding product offerings to grow Goodwill Acadiana’s mission. The print shop manager must, above all, have patience and a heart for service.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily print shop operations to meet production schedules and quality standards. Create and manage work schedules for the print shop team, ensuring adequate coverage for all jobs and optimal use of equipment and resources.
  • Examine work orders to determine estimated completion times, ink, and material quantities.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning efficiently.
  • Manage inventory of supplies, including thread, hoops, needles, inks, screens, and chemicals, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and internal clients.
  • Operate all print shop equipment including automatic press, manual press, and embroidery machines.
  • Operation preparation, layout, set-up, screen making and reclamation, counting, quality control, finishing, and boxing.
  • General shop cleaning and maintenance.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, train, and motivate the print shop team to achieve productivity and quality goals.
  • Manage staff in the day to day operation and performance of their assigned duties.
  • Foster a positive work environment and encourage collaboration among team members.

Quality Control:

  • Monitor production output to ensure adherence to quality standards and client specifications.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures throughout the printing and embroidery processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline production processes and improve efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques to enhance the company’s capabilities.
  • Recommend and implement new technologies or methodologies to stay competitive in the market.
  • Work with members of leadership to develop and implement long-term plans and short-term goals in relation to print shop initiatives.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure safety programs are properly utilized; identify areas for improvement; and make recommendations for continuous progress for safety & security measures.
  • Train staff on proper use of equipment, job responsibilities, and safe handling of materials. Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Meet CARF accreditation requirements as they relate to safety and health.

Other Duties include but not limited to:

  • Interact with customers as needed to address concerns, answer questions, and ensure customer satisfaction. Provide excellent service and professionalism in all customer interactions.
  • Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.
  • Perform or assist with any duties or operations to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:

  • 2 years previous work experience as a screen printer.
  • High School, HiSET, or GED Diploma required

Screen Printer Requirements:

  • High level of creative and artistic skills.
  • Ability to work with ink and chemicals every day.
  • Ability to operate a manual and automatic screen press (ROQ knowledge is a plus).
  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment.
  • Ability to work nights if required to complete a priority job.
  • Embroidery experience is a plus.
  • Experience leading/teaching is a plus.
  • Some driving may be required.
  • Desire to have a larger purpose in helping others lead a productive life.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills required, including working well with a diverse population.
  • Must participate in supervision with a positive and appropriate attitude and must communicate effectively with direct supervisor and team.
  • Must be reliable and flexible.
  • Must show initiative and be willing to accept new challenges.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
  • Experience in POS, inventory, and invoicing systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have access to personal transportation for use to conduct approved Goodwill business. Must be able to pass MVR checks and provide proof of a valid Driver’s license and personal auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing, working at production area.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, reach, stand, talk or hear.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
