Purpose or General Objective: To promote, solicit, and obtain contract work from area businesses in order to provide jobs and training opportunities in support of Goodwill Industries of Central Michigan's (GICMH) mission. This position manages all aspects of the manufacturing department, including budgeting, staff, and policies.
Essential Duties:
- Follow all Goodwill policies and procedures, including safety.
- Responsible for the overall management of the manufacturing department.
- Supervise the Manufacturing Services Manager and all manufacturing staff.
- Develop and maintain all department-specific policies.
- Maintain IATF 16949 systems and documentation for conducting manufacturing.
- Develop and maintain contacts with businesses within GICMH’s territory.
- Develop contacts and relationships with various trade groups and associations to promote GICMH’s Private Contracts.
- Solicit contract services and submit competitive bids for services and develop and maintain a bidding system.
- Develop and implement strategies for increasing sales, job opportunities, and training opportunities.
- Works with our Workforce Development (WFD) department in providing and coordinating training and work experiences for program participants.
- Assists with the training and placement of WFD participants into competitive employment whenever possible.
- Responsible for coordinating and administering the IATF 16949 Management Review Team and Internal Audit process.
Education and Experience Required:
- More than 5 years of manufacturing experience at the supervisory level
- Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems such as IATF 16949
- Outside calling
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes
Skills Required:
- Business Development (B2B) calling skills
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with customers and prospective customers in a professional manner
- Ability to use spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software
- Ability to form and administer quoting and bid processes
Physical expectations:
- Ability to stand, stretch, stoop, and handle work items with dexterity for lengthy periods of time.
- Able to analyze a job task using appropriate senses (sight or touch).
Other Requirements:
- Regular travel within Goodwill's geographical territory via own transport
- Provide own transportation and adequate insurance for such. Must maintain a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
