Position Title: Director of Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program

Reports To: Senior Vice President of Workforce Development
General Purpose:
Manage and direct Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program for Goodwill’s Northern New Jersey Division, which involves administering a budget from the Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Services to assist veterans to prepare for, secure and/or maintain employment.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for ensuring that NNJ Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program is fully staffed and providing quality services in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop staffing back-up plans to cover short and long term vacancies.
- Responsible for coordination with Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Services on reporting requirements (quarterly and other) and any other grant-specific needs.
- Work with community partners and oversee day-to-day operations across the targeted counties (Essex, Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Somerset, Union and Hudson).
- Establish benchmarks and develop monthly reports to highlight program activities, monitor revenue/expenses and track client referrals, placements and grant funded program activities.
- Establish operating procedures to manage participant and staff activities as required by funders, compliance and contracts.
- Develop and maintains ongoing relationships with potential and current referral sources, service providers and community resources.
- Enhance relationships with current employers and develop relationships with prospective employers with the goal of enhancing the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program.
- Review all client referrals, determine eligibility and assign to appropriate staff.
- Facilitate staff development and implement employee morale initiatives.
- Serve as an agency representative at community, regional, national, and social service functions, as well as performing public relations activities as requested.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate appropriate interventions, along with the Safety Director, to ensure that clients’ work area remains healthy and safe.
- Engage in case conferences and other meetings as requested.
- Identify potential funding opportunities and assist in preparing grant proposals.
- Develop proposals for new programs and services.
- Ensure adherence to annual budget goals for the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program.
- Ensure services are provided and documented in compliance with funder, internal guidelines, HIPAA, Ethics and other contract requirements
- Lead the development of work flows and other programmatic requirements by IT to ensure the timely development of an automated tracking system
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
Those who have served in the military or have experience working with Veterans strongly encouraged to apply
- Bachelor’s in Psychology or related field
- Have 3-5 years of experience working with veterans.
- Have a minimum of 2 years supervisory/management experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to multi-task in a very fast and demanding work environment a must
- Capacity to manage, develop and motivate staff to continue to increase their skills in order to expand their programs and/or performance as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
Scope of Responsibility & Positions Supervised:
- Provides direct supervision to all HVRP staff.
- Establishes and monitors program budgets, staffing needs, and training supplies/equipment.
- Assists the SVP with seeking out new funding sources and develops programs/services with which to access funding and provide clients with additional training and/or support.
Special Working Conditions:
May be required to work evenings and/or weekends on request.
