Position Summary
As a Production Worker, you'll be an essential part of the team, handling all aspects of donation processing, from receiving and sorting donations to preparing them for sale. Your role will help Goodwill fulfill its mission of changing lives through the power of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Properly handle donations, sorting items into appropriate categories (textiles, electronics, hard goods).
- Ensure donation areas are kept clean, safe, and organized.
- Sort, inspect, and categorize donated textiles and goods.
- Prepare clothing and items for pricing and sale.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while ensuring efficiency.
- Move saleable clothing to hanging areas and prepare items as instructed.
- Place items on pricing racks and ensure they are ready for the sales floor.
- Follow specific processes for handling electronics and other items.
- Operate equipment such as balers and shrink wrap machines to prepare items for transport.
- Keep detailed records and notify supervisors of completed work.
- Safely operate baling equipment to compress materials.
- Move and store bales as required.
Requirements
- Education: All educational backgrounds welcome.
- Skills: Basic math and reasoning skills preferred; ability to follow instructions is essential.
- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and twist for up to 8 hours a day.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds regularly and team lift, up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment:
Exposure to outdoor weather, dust, animal hair, and moderate to loud noise levels.
