SUMMARY OF POSITION
The IT Specialist provides technical support primarily resolving issues related to workstations, printers, basic networking, and software troubleshooting. The IT Specialist is expected to be courteous and professional while upholding the core Goodwill values of -Empowerment, Public Trust, Respect, Innovation, Quality, and Safety.
NOTE: This position is located in the Rio Grande Valley with an office in Edinburg, Texas. This is not a remote job. Position requires the ability to travel within the entire region of Goodwill South Texas.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Act as the first point of contact for all technical support issues, including hardware, software, and network problems
- Assist with setting up new user accounts and software installations
- Provide support to employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Provide end-user training and technical assistance to staff
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues to prevent downtime
- Create and maintain documentation for commonly encountered technical issues
- Implement and monitor security measures to protect data and systems
- Log all support interactions and resolutions into the ticketing systems, ensuring accurate and through documentation

- Comply with all department and agency policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent and three years related experience
- An IT-related degree and one year related experience may also be used to qualify
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows operating systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- A team player who is also able to work independently with minimal supervision
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of basic IT concepts, including hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues remotely or on-site, including printers, desktops, and software
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- Familiarity with Windows OS and Microsoft 365
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual
- College coursework or certificate in IT related field
- Working knowledge of solutions system POS and Straight Edge
