What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Store Manager position at Goodwill Industries of Wayne/Holmes Counties?
FUNCTION: Assist the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the store according with the policies and procedures of the agency
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises transfers and rotation of donated goods.
2. Operates a Point of Sale cash register, fax, copier, and computer.
3. Ensures that each employee receives mandatory Orientation/Safety and Customer Service training.
4. Responsible for completing accident/incident forms in a timely manner.
5. Clears cash register, completes cash count, and reconciles cash sheets and bank
deposits.
6. Operates and troubleshoots a Point of Sale cash register.
7. Assists in managing and coordinating of employees engaged in selling, cashiering and stocking of merchandise.
8. Trains employees & consumers in organizational policies and procedures as assigned by the store manager.
9. Understands and trains employees/consumers on Hazardous Materials reviewing the MSDS.
10. Reviews shipment orders. Insures the merchandise is accurately priced, fresh and rotated according to procedures. Maintains product on floor at adequate levels.
11. Must be able to lift boxes, bags, garments (donations) of up to 30 lbs. from floor to chest height. Must be able to stoop, squat, bend, twist and hang merchandise head high or above
12. Assists the store manager in special merchandising programs, planning for special events and maintaining store staff.
13. Must be able to take over store operations in the absence of the store manager.
14. Assists donors and truck drivers in loading and unloading donations.
15. Adjusts prices on perceived value of goods when necessary.
16. Must be able to make production goals
17. Assess emergency situations and takes action as the need indicates.
18. Assists in maintaining a clean store such as cleaning restrooms, shelves, dusting, vacuuming floors, cleaning windows and mirrors
19. Performs other duties as assigned by Store Manager, and Donated Goods Director.

REQUIREMENTS
Positions supervised: Clerk /sorters, Leads, consumers, community service workers
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: 3-5 years of retail supervision/management
Math aptitude and good social skills
Other Requirements:
License Check - valid driver’s license and proof of insurability or is able to provide transportation.
Background Checks - The offer of employment will be based on the outcome of the background check
Drug and Alcohol Screen - Must pass a drug and alcohol screen prior to employment. Subject to random testing.
