What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career Services Instructor - FT position at Goodwill of the Heartland/Heartland Goodwill Enter?
The Career Services Instructor provides occupational skills instruction in a variety of industries using both virtual and in-person methods for individuals throughout Goodwill service area. They will also be in charge of providing support to individuals served to maximize successful completion of the training. This position can be based out of any of our following office locations: Iowa City Office, Cedar Rapids Career Center, Davenport Office, or Burlington Career Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Create and adapt training and curriculum materials to support a variety of student needs,
utilizing approaches to increase learning, engagement and successful certification and job
attainment.
2. Obtain certification for assigned courses.
3. Adapt and deliver training using virtual training vehicles such as Zoom.
4. Manage ordering and distribution of books, supplies and testing vouchers for each student
participating in occupational skills training.
5. Create monthly and final progress reports documenting progress towards program
completion.
6. Coordinate with Career Navigator for wrap around supports, employment opportunities and
other follow up activities.
7. Follow up with students, recording job placement and retention information.
8. Communicate with partners about student progress.
9. Schedule on-site training with partner businesses throughout Goodwill’s service area,
negotiating onsite training, while coordinating with the local Goodwill team for onsite
support.
10. Manage schedule and assist with participant registration for occupational skills classes.
11. Develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies and related agency personnel
throughout Goodwill area, to maximize referrals.
12. Assist in marketing and recruitment activities for occupational skills training.
13. Provide job seeking skills and work readiness/soft skills training for program participants.
14. Recruit and engage employers as needed to meet the needs of each skills training
program.
15. Elicit feedback from community-based employers on effectiveness of each training
program.
16. Represent Goodwill and provide education about Goodwill through participation in
appropriate organizations, agencies, and groups.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, human services, education, business, communications or related field required. 4 years of related experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s degree.
- One-year employment in a related field preferred.
- Experience teaching and providing instruction to a diverse group of individuals is preferred.
- Advanced computer skills and experience with virtual learning or video conferencing required.
- Must be able to attain and maintain the requirements for teaching and proctoring occupational trainings and exams for certification.
- Valid Iowa driver's license and pass a motor vehicle driving record screening.
- Pass child/dependent adult abuse and criminal history background check.
- Minimum state insurance for vehicle.
- Have a safe, reliable vehicle.
The Career Services Instructor will work 40 hours per week and provides occupational skills instruction in a variety of industries using both virtual and in-person methods. Work schedule may vary but will be weekdays within the hours of 9 am - 6:30 pm. The starting wage range for this position is $20.06 - $22.07, with some flexibility for education and experience.
Salary : $20 - $22
