Job Responsibilities:
• Provides training and support as well as technical assistance in conjunction with/from the SN Director to all School Nutrition Managers and other School Nutrition Staff.
• Assists the SN Operations Specialist in the operation of the Seamless Summer Operation of Summer Meals including the training of operation of meal service, safety procedures, menus and staff.
• Coordinate with school nutrition managers and all other school staff affected to establish proper procedures for cleaning schedules, ordering schedules and effective kitchen management.
• Helps contribute to the district’s Farm to School efforts by developing recipes using items that available to be procured locally as identified by the SN Operations Specialist and SN Communication and Compliance Specialist.
• Assist SN Director in the planning and directing of the annual Back to School Training days with Managers and In-Service Training days.
• Coordinates Student Taste Tests at site levels with recipe development and assess feedback from students with SN Director and SN Operations Specialist to determine acceptability for menu development.
• Helps assist the SN Director in conducting training sessions for new School Nutrition
employees through providing ongoing training in all aspects of School Nutrition such as:
- Manager Pathways in accordance to the GA Department of Education
- Orientation for Nutrition Employees
- Any other relevant GADoE, USDA, state and federal trainings for the SN Program.
• Attends meetings, workshops, conferences, vendor shows, and seminars to maintain current knowledge and program regulations; coordinate special projects as required.
• Works in accordance with the SN Operations Specialist and SN Director to develop, test, and implement standardized recipes to include recipe adjustments, commodity usage, and recipe evaluations
• Assists the SN Director and SN Operations Specialist to assist in conducting required on-site reviews for district. Resolve any problems found on-site while collaborating with parties involved.
• Visit school sites to become acquainted with specific needs, train new staff members from the staffing agency or any other new hires.
• Work alongside SN Director, SN Operations Specialist, Maintenance staff, cafe manager and school staff to arrange for demonstrations and employee training on new equipment.
Other Functions:
• Assist SN Director and SN Operations Specialist with Food Safety Plan updates.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
1. Educational Level: High School Diploma (GED) required. Associates/Bachelors degree or equivalent experience with concentration in food and nutrition, culinary arts, or related field preferred. Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Program Regulations is strongly preferred.
2. Minimum Experience: Three or more years in School Nutrition Management experience in School Nutrition, required.
3. Must be extremely organized with good computer skills. An excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite is required.
4. The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing is required.
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality, evaluate needs, prioritize workload and meet aggressive deadlines is required.
