The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2024-25 school year:

School Nutrition Manager (Secondary)
POSITION PURPOSE: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in preparing, cooking, and serving food in school cafeteria, by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Estimates daily and weekly needs and orders food, supplies, and equipment.
- Supervise the preparation and service of food to students while following the rules and regulations of the National School Lunch, National School Breakfast, Afterschool Snack, and Summer Foods Programs.
- Direct, train, and supervise cooks, food service workers, cashiers, and monitors in proper food preparations, food service, food handling, and portion control while promoting a positive and pleasant work environment.
- Determine the type and quantity of food and supplies to order/purchase based on student needs and resources available while following state guidelines.
- Maintain and keep daily production records as well as weekly inventory records.
- Supervise and manage timeclock station and printed timesheets to ensure all work time is accurately reported.
- Carries our supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the school’s, USDA policies, and state guidelines.
- Responsibilities include making recommendations on interviewing, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Plans own monthly menus with approval from School Nutrition Director or School Nutrition Administrative Assistant.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Food Safety Manager Certificate
- Knowledge of methods of cooking, preparing and serving food in large quantities.
- Knowledge of serve or assist in serving children during lunch and/or breakfast.
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety practices related to cooking and serving food.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years’ experience in school food service or equivalent
- Basic computer skills required to assist with food ordering, food production, inventory, and record keeping. Skilled in use of point of sale system, spreadsheets, word processing and email.
- Ability to manage a team.
- Ability to work with all kitchen machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative of those commonly associated with this type of work.
HOURS: 182 days per year; 40 hours per week; daily hours (6:00am to 2:00pm)
SALARY: $23.30-$23.60, rate is dependent upon education and/or experience. (Schedule #24-3)
