The following vacancy exists in Goshen Community Schools for the 2024-25 school year :
Goshen Intermediate School
School Counselor
All positions begin as a one year contract, but have the potential to move to a permanent contract.
POSITION PURPOSE : Through leadership, advocacy and collaboration, school counselors promote success, for all students in the areas of academic development, college / career readiness and social / emotional learning. Services are implemented through a comprehensive school counseling program which includes delivery of core curriculum lessons, program management, student advocacy, small group and individual counseling.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily :
- Program Foundation : The School Counseling Program is in alignment with the vision and mission and is delivered from a foundation of beliefs based on state and national standards that serve as the guiding principles for design and management of the school counseling program
- Data-based Accountability :
- Annually revise (as needed) the school counseling program as a result of an analysis of evaluation data
- Identify data-informed annual goals along with the measured impact of direct services delivery.
- Deliver data-informed classroom, small-group and closing the gap activities and interventions.
- Design calendars reflecting appropriate use of time aligned with ASCA National Model recommendations of 80% of time in direct and indirect services to students.
- Collect and analyze results data from classroom, small group and closing the gap activities and interventions.
- Measure student growth of outcome data areas, including academic, achievement / grades, attendance, and behavior / discipline.
- Classroom Counseling Lessons : Design, deliver, evaluate, and revise a curriculum meeting the ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success and Indiana School Counseling Competencies for Students, including classroom, small group, and individual lessons covering :
Academic development (e.g. academic planning; postsecondary awareness and readiness)
REQUIREMENTS : Valid Indiana School Services License. A Masters in School Counseling is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS :
HOURS : School year - 184 days per year _3_ days (extended contract); 40 hours per week
SALARY : Teaching Contract - 184 days _3_ days (extended contract)
