Winter Guard Director
Position Summary:
Goshen High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Winter Guard Director to lead its competitive indoor guard program. This is an extracurricular position that begins following the conclusion of the marching band season and continues through the end of the winter guard season, typically late March or early April.
The ideal candidate will bring strong instructional skills, creative vision, and a passion for working with students to develop performance excellence in a positive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and choreograph the winter guard show, including music selection, movement, equipment work, and visual elements.
- Plan and lead all after-school rehearsals, weekend clinics, and competitions.
- Instruct students in flag, rifle, sabre, and dance techniques appropriate to skill level.
- Coordinate all logistics related to the winter guard season, including competition registration, transportation, costumes, and equipment.
- Foster a team culture that emphasizes discipline, collaboration, and student growth.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and program staff regarding schedules, expectations, and performance updates.
- Collaborate with the GHS Band Director and guard staff to ensure alignment with program goals and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience directing or assisting a winter guard or color guard program.
- Strong background in choreography, movement technique, and equipment instruction.
- Ability to create engaging and competitive visual productions.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Availability for after-school practices, weekend events, and travel to competitions.
- (Preferred) Experience with competitive circuits such as WGI or IHSCGA.
SALARY: Per extracurricular schedule (Group #6) and experience
