JOB DESCRIPTION:
Pharmacy Assistant assists pharmacy staff by retrieving filled prescriptions, processing payments and handling other tasks. Combine interpersonal and communication skills with a detail-oriented perspective in order to provide both great customer service and support the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy. To be successful, needs to be capable of juggling many tasks at once, staying organized, and working in a fast-paced environment. Quantitative skills help as processing payment is a large part of their job.
Immediate Supervisor Title: Pharmacist
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in pharmacy or healthcare setting
Proficient in use of Windows-based computer programs and Microsoft Office programs
Ability to address patient concerns/questions in a positive proactive manner
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a professional, organized, and friendly manner
Excellent communication skills
Being able to stand on feet for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
Proving basic quantitative abilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the phones and act as the face of the pharmacy for incoming customers while providing customer service and answering questions or addressing concerns for customers.
Assist the pharmacy staff in providing quick and satisfactory service.
Assist in packaging orders and then selling them to customers.
Process payments for all pharmacy sales using the pharmacy’s Point-Of-Sale system in a timely manner according to policy; pharmacy sales include both prescription and over the counter items.
Package prescriptions for shipping and create shipping label(s) via FedEx in order for orders to be sent to patient
Translate patient concerns and questions as necessary
Greet patients, verify insurance and patient demographic information prior to prescriptions being processed
Complete End-Of-Day reports for Point-Of-Sale system
Prepare for next day's duties
Manage new patient requests and inform patients about our pharmacy services
Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy area
