Job Description :
The Assistant Director of New Student Engagement will contribute to the vision of the Office of Student Engagement as the primary contact, advocate, and resource for new undergraduate students throughout the entirety of their first year. The Assistant Director will design, implement, and collaborate in providing a comprehensive co-curricular first year experience, including the new student orientation processes for both the fall and spring semesters, as well as a variety of "touchpoint" programs, services, and opportunities to engage including monitoring, tracking, and regularly meeting with students. Assistant Director will hire, train, and supervise a staff of 18-22 undergraduate student leaders (i.e., "Goucher Guides") who serve as mentors to new students for the entirety of the academic year.
Essential Job Functions :
60 % A. Student Engagement
- Design, implement, and assess all aspects of a comprehensive first year co-curricular experience for new undergraduate students throughout the academic year.
- Serve as primary contact, advocate, and resource for new students through individual and group conversations.
20% B. Supervision
10 % C. Campus Leadership
5 % D. Administration
Education :
Required : Bachelor's Degree
Preferred : Master's Degree in higher education, college student personnel, or related field.
Professional Experience :
Required : Two years' experience in new student programs, campus programming, student activities, campus life, or academic advising.
Preferred : 4 years' experience in new student programs, campus programming, student activities, campus life, and / or academic advising.
