Job Summary
Responsible for supporting all aspects of coaching the athletes. The program aims to support youth seeking high-level Alpine development opportunities and a superior educational experience. The program will produce results that enhance the brand and competitive position of the Gould Snow Sports Competition Program.
The Alpine coach promotes a strong student-centered approach that exemplifies a respectful, inclusive, and dynamic environment. This involves fostering resilience, respect, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging among athletes. Adolescents under their guidance are empowered with agency, supported within a structured framework, and mentored for growth and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coaching
- Coach Alpine athletes
- Daily preparation of the training venue (course set, fencing, snow preparation, etc)
- Manage athlete transportation for daily training and races
- Conduct regular video review sessions either on-hill or as soon as possible after
- Transport on-snow athletes to/from airport/training venue
- Assist athletes with gear selection and maintenance
- Coach and support commercial ski training camps that support underclass enrollment
- Regular communication with athletes, parents, and faculty
- Participate in Professional Development clinics/training
Travel Protocol / Camps / Overnight Trip
- 24 hr supervisory duties to include downtime, warm-up and cool down training, supervised study hall, equipment maintenance, and nutritional health and sleep habits.
Management
- Manage athlete equipment in cooperation with Sunday River Speedworks and equipment manufacturers
- Submits daily attendance on BlackBaud.
- Plan and execute away competitions including travel, lodging and supervision
- Submit accurate Trip IT’s and Trip Recons in a timely fashion
- Plan athlete travel for in-season race and training opportunities
- Maintain alpine program equipment (gates, timing, video, etc)
- Write periodic athlete comments
- Ensure that GACP athletes comply with the Code of Conduct and the GACP Participation Agreement.
Professionalism
- Attendance and participation in team and organization meetings
- Prompt and frequent communication with athletes, parents, and faculty
- Involvement with USSA regional and national committees
- Meets general daily professional standards regarding attendance, timeliness, and deadlines
- Adheres to policies in the Employee Handbook and Community Guide
Periodic Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Admission Office in recruiting to include but not limited to:
- Athlete identification
- Admission visits and meetings with prospective families
- Engagement with prospective families at coaching events
Qualifications
Qualifications Coach
- Equivalent to skills required for Level 100 education in the US Ski and Snowboard Coaches Education program. PSIA or equivalent acceptable
- Alpine racing or coaching experience is required
- Certified US Ski & Snowboard Referee Race Official
- CPR, First Aid and Safe Sport Certified (or willingness to be trained)
- Basic software literacy in Google Suite
- A valid passport and US driver’s license
- Pass a criminal and sexual offender background check
- Obtain and maintain a CHRC certification from the Maine Department of Education
Physical Work Environment Coach
- Ability to ski while carrying more than 50lbs of equipment
- Occasional prolonged and irregular hours, working November through April up to 7 days a week
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling
- Occasional lifting up to 10-30 pounds of supplies
- Must be able to travel to all campus locations and to appropriate training and meetings
