What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Analysis and Metadata Engineer position at Govcio LLC?
GovCIO is currently searching fora Data Analysis and MetaData Engineer to join our team and optimize search capabilities of our customer’s content management systems proposal. This position is located in the Washington, DC area and will be a full remote position. Candidates in the DC area are preferred, as the position may need intermittent onsite visits.
Responsibilities
- Create and update the Data Management Definition (DMD) documents and related design documentation, submission guidelines, metadata templates, and data dictionaries
- Create and update authority files required to process content and metadata
- Develop or update Java-based parsers, XSLT transforms, or schema as necessary to support submission and processing of content and metadata
- Create metadata and update content files as necessary to support submission and processing of content and metadata
- Perform data analysis on new and existing content collections to assess strategies for processing, metadata creation, public display, and search optimization
- Develop the ability to ingest and process different formats of metadata into GovInfo as needed (e.g., Dublin Core, MARC, CSV, JSON, XML, etc.).
- Provide public access to different formats of metadata via transforms from fdsys.xml or successor format.
- Enhance metadata using metadata in various formats.
- Provide XML transform expertise.
Qualifications
Bachelor's with 8 years (or commensurate experience)
Required Skills and Experience
- 8 years of relevant experience implementing administering, maintaining, and upgrading Documentum components on Linux including:
- Installing, configuring, and updating Documentum components and products.
- Administering various Documentum products including content server, xPlore and Interactive Delivery Service, Index Server, WebTop, Java Method Server, and database.
- Creating and troubleshooting Documentum workflows and processes.
- Applying a unique identifier and checksum to all content files at the point of ingest.
- Identifying file formats via internal signatures using tools such as DROID and PRONOM.
- Persisting technical, descriptive, and preservation metadata in common XML schema used in the digital preservation community including METS, MODS, and PREMIS.
- Performing regular fixity checks on content files in the repository.
- Experience building semantic web applications using RDF, OWL, SPARQL, Apache Fuseki SPARQL Server, and Apache Jena RDF Store.
- Experience building Java EE custom applications
- Experience with agile software development lifecycle methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
- Experience authoring, editing, and maintaining design documentation, standard operating procedures, and configuration documentation
- Experience with DevOps, test driven development, and test automation for all levels of the test pyramid.

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
